This painting is one my ‘Tree Portrait’ paintings that combines observational painting and drawing of local trees with decorative details and patterns.

I love trees of all shapes and sizes and how they stand out in the flat local landscape in York. This piece is inspired by a photograph of a local tree taken on 23rd April but also takes elements from French tapestries from the 1600s.
