About me

I live in a small, rural village on the outskirts of York. The landscape here in this part of Yorkshire is very flat. This means that the skies are huge and there is a wonderful sense of space. Aspects of my local landscape are regular sources of inspiration for my work.

My love of observed drawing, together with patterns and colour, continue to be an integral part of my artwork. I like to build up layers of drawing and painting in each piece.

Previously

I lived in Kent, raising my two children, teaching Art and Design in a Secondary School, and running a headdress and accessory business. My background is in jewellery and silversmithing. I studied at Loughborough College of Art and Design and gained a BA Hons, before moving to London and working for two model milliners. This then led to a job I loved, designing and making headdresses and costumes back up north in Blackpool.

The desire to capture nature and wildlife, as well as the feel of my environment and local landscape has continued to grow since moving to back to Yorkshire in 2011.
